The Seneca County Sheriff's office accepts cash or check for payment. If paying cash, please have correct change with you. No change will be made.
Initial Licensing Requirements
Must be a legal resident of United States, an Ohio resident for at least 45 days AND a Seneca County resident or an adjacent county for 30 days
Must be at least 21 years of age and not a fugitive from justice
Completed application form
A color photo (passport size) must be attached to the application. The photo must be taken within 30 days of the date of application. If you do not have a color photo, we will take one for an additional five (5) dollar fee.
A Firearms Certificate of Competency.
Valid Ohio Driver's License or State ID Card.
You must submit to fingerprint verification.
License Renewal
You may renew your license 90 days before your current license expires.
You must be an Ohio Resident for at least 45 days AND a Seneca County Resident or an adjacent county for 30 days
You must complete a NEW application
You must attest to having read the current CCW booklet

Your application will be reviewed and upon successful completion of the background check, a license will be issued. We will contact you by phone when your license is ready for pickup. Your license will be available at the Dispatch window, which is manned 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Reciprocity
Ohio has agreements with other states to recognize each others concealed handgun licenses. Consult the Attorney General's Web site for the most recent list of state agreements. Be aware, the laws of the other states apply to you when you are in that state.
