About

The Seneca County uniformed enforcement division is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls for service to the citizens and guests of our community. These deputies have jurisdiction throughout the 552 square mile county.

The uniformed deputy is often the first face an individual sees in a time of crisis. Uniformed deputies are sent to various training’s throughout the year to keep up on their knowledge of the law and of the job. They are required to pass a state firearms qualification course once a year on their duty weapon, off duty weapon, shotgun & patrol rifle.

Uniformed deputies also assist the civil division in the service of civil papers and warrants. They not only respond to calls for service but also handle accidents and assist the various fire and ems units in our county.

There is an Enforcement Sergeant for every shift that is responsible for up to 3-4 deputies and works side by side with them handling calls as well. They evaluate, mentor and train them as they gain experience.

Currently, the Villages of Bettsville and New Riegel contract with the Sheriff’s Office to provide additional coverage for their residents.
