The jail kitchen department is a vital department within our office. It has 5 fulltime employees and 1 part-time employee and is a 24/7 365 service. They are required to provide 3 meals a day to the inmates and have further state requirements when it comes to caloric intake, special diets, etc. They also provide 3 meals a day for the Seneca County Juvenile Detention Center residents.
These women are the behind the scenes heroes as they come in everyday, rain or shine, sleet or snow and make sure that the over 182,000+ meals a year are served. This department passes all local, state and federal inspections with flying colors and they all take great pride in not only the cleanliness of the kitchen but the quality of food served all while keeping the costs below $2 a meal. This is NOT an easy task in today’s supply issues and inflation problems.
